  • dictionaries
  • thesauri
  • grammar and writing guides

and the Writers & Artists Yearbook (naturally).

One response to “What’s your essential reading?

  1. Having recently invested in a Kindle 3, I now have a whole bookshelf with me all the time, including (thanks to those generous folk at Amazon) a free copy of the Oxford Dictionary of English. My other essential book of the moment is Thomas Woll’s Publishing for profit: successful bottom-line management for book publishers, published by Chicago Review Press. It’s a core text for my first semester course and a great tell-it-how-it-is introduction to how publishing works.
