Inkle Studios, the people behind Profile Books’ new Frankenstein app (which has sold 10,000 copies in two months), have launched an interactive fiction writing competition. Winners will receive cash prizes and have their work published within an anthology app for iPhone and iPad.
Entrants must use inkle’s free tool designed to help anyone write and publish interactive stories – the inklewriter. Inkle say the system “lets you write as you play, branching the story with choices, and then linking those stories back together again. It keeps track of which paths you’ve finished, and which still need to be written.”
Kingston University publishing lecturer Anna Faherty is one of the competition’s four judges. She’s tackled the challenges of building effective nonlinear storylines in museums and performance contexts before and “can’t wait to see what clever plots, twists, turns and personalised experiences people come up with”.
Future Voices is open for entries now. Just submit your piece using inklewriter by September 15th and you could end up with a published story and $250 in your pocket. Full details are avaliable at inkle.
