Kingston graduate wins BAFTA for screenwriting


At last night’s 2014 BAFTA Awards, Kingston University Creative Writing and Drama graduate Sarah Woolner received the British Short Film Animation BAFTA for writing Swimming with the Fishes. Watch Sarah, director Yousif Al-Khalifa and producer James Walker talk about the award after the event:

Sleeping with the Fishes tells the story of Sonja, who “lives a lonely life as a fishmonger, more at ease with her fish than her customers, until one day a delivery man turns up who looks like a rainbow trout”. Find out more from the trailer:

The short also won the grand prize at the 2013 Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival, the Audience Choice for Best British Film at the London International Animation Festival and has been selected for the Cinanima International Animation Film Festival, the Edinburgh Film Festival, and the Poitiers International Competition at the Rencontres Henri Langlois International Film Schools’ Festival.

Sarah is represented by the United Agents agency.
