Kingston University Press (KUP), in partnership with the students of Kingston University’s MA Publishing course and BookMachine, are delighted to announce the launch of Snapshots II, the second compilation of the best blog posts from the BookMachine archive, focusing on consumer relationships, marketing and new publishing models.
Three of the incredible contributors to Snapshots II will be discussing the importance of collaboration at the launch event on Wednesday 29 April:
Tom Chalmers: a serial entrepreneur who has founded seven book industry companies, including KUP’s own distributor, Legend Press, which focuses on mainstream literary and commercial fiction. He tweets at @tom_chalmers.
Toby Hopkins: Senior Account Manager at Getty Images, one of the world’s leading creators and distributors of award-winning still imagery, video, music and multimedia products. He tweets at @picturebooktoby.
Laura Palmer: Editorial Director and co-founder of Head of Zeus, an independent publishing house dedicated to new authors, great storytelling, and fabulous ideas. You can follow Head of Zeus’ tweets at @Hoz_Books.
Snapshots II is itself a great feat of collaboration, as BookMachine content developed by leading practitioners across the publishing industry is repurposed into a print product for Kingston University Press. A team of students on Kingston’s MA Publishing ‘MAKE: Content Development and Production’ module worked on the project, responding to a professional brief, pitching design and layout concepts and ultimately editing, designing, typesetting and producing the finished product. The live real-world project provides a fantastic practical learning opportunity for Kingston’s students, who develop professional publishing skills as well as an understanding of how to collaborate and manage projects effectively.
Snapshots II is the second collaborative publication produced by KUP and BookMachine. The first volume is available to purchase on Amazon.
