The accreditation report describes Kingston’s MA Publishing degree as “an excellent example of a course with an innovative and pedagogically strong structure and excellent industry involvement through both the staff team and guest lecturers”. It also praises the robust organisation of the course, the strong business focus and the ambitious and extensive speaker programme – which has, just this year, featured the Chair of Penguin Random House, the CEO of Faber & Faber and the Chair of London Book Fair amongst many others. A key part of the accreditation process involved consultation with current students and alumni. Student feedback was reported as “whole-heartedly positive”, as exemplified by their description of the course lecturers as “superwomen”. The accreditation report outlines how students are encouraged to think both critically and creatively, so they may bring about change in their future publishing roles. It also highlights how the course provides opportunities for students to discover new interests and to apply their knowledge and skills in practice, enabling them to develop as mature professionals and independent learners.

“We’re delighted that Kingston University’s MA Publishing course has been awarded the Creative Skillset Tick. It affirms our commitment to developing students’ professional skills, expert knowledge and industry contacts, while preparing them to work in a fast-moving industry that thrives on creativity and collaboration. Plus, it’s always nice to be likened to superheroes… ”
